Stop my computer updating

The above mentioned tutorial worked for everyone who wanted to disable notification prompt to update to Windows 8.1, thus they were able to skip the upgrade process. But now a few people have reported that even after disabling the upgrade notification message, their Windows 8 computer system was automatically upgraded to Windows 8.1 without their knowledge and permission.I currently have WU set to perform the updates at 3am, and when it finished, if there needs to be a reboot, I am not there to tell it to wait.I would prefer to leave the time settings as they are, and simply disable the automatic reboot, instead opting for WU to let me know it needs to reboot the PC.It was an automatic and forced upgrade to Windows 8.1.

How can I exercise more control over the downloading and installation of Windows updates and stop this happening in the future?Although Windows 8.1 is an improved version of Windows 8 and contains many new features and fixes but there are many people who don't want to upgrade to Windows 8.1.There might be many reason behind the decision of not upgrading Windows version.I found ways of doing this in XP and Vista, including registry edits and group policy modifications. However, The registry is obviously slightly different so the keys do not exist compared to what I found, and since I am running Home Premium I do not have gpedit.
